  • 1 Cup Maida (All Purpose Flour)
  • 1 Cup Milk Solid (Khoya or Mawa) OR
  • Approximately 2 Cups Milk.
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Baking Soda
  • 2 Tablespoons Ghee (clarified butter)
  • For Sugar Syrup : 
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 4 Green Cardamom Pods, in powdered form.

  • How to make Gulab Jamun :

                To make ๐Ÿ’—Lovely Gulab Jamun, here's the step by step instruction.

    Step 1: Prepare the Dough -

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and ghee.

    • Gradually add milk to the mixture. Adjust the milk quantity as needed.

    Step 2: Rest the Dough -

    • Cover the dough with a dish or muslin cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes. This allows it to become more pliable. If you didn't cover, the dough will dry out. And you will get crack on the Gulab Jamun.

    Step 3: Prepare the Sugar Syrup -

    • In a sturdy steel pot (patila), combine equal parts of water and sugar.

    • Heat the mixture and bring it to a boil. Stir continuously until the syrup reaches a sticky consistency, typically within 5 minutes.

    Step 4: Shape the Dough -

    • After resting, take small portions of the dough and roll them into smooth, crack-free balls. Make sure there are no cracks as they may cause the Gulab Jamun to break while frying.

    Step 5: Fry the Dough Balls -

    • In a deep wok (kadhai), add enough oil for deep frying. Heat the oil over medium heat.

    • Gently place the dough balls into the hot oil and fry them until they turn a lovely golden brown. Ensure they are evenly browned on all sides.

    Step 6: Soak in Sugar Syrup -

    • Once the Gulab Jamun balls are golden brown, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them directly into the prepared sugar syrup.
